Aspects by Barbara Fitzpatrick
OPENING 11 FEBRUARY 2010 AT 5.30PM, the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick is delighted to host a collection of work by experienced artist, Barbara Fitzpatrick, at the Hospital's artspace 1 (corridor Level 1).
The artist states:
"Suburbs are places we might love or hate but mostly take for granted. I think the suburbs are a largely neglected goldmine of artistic possibilities. The good, bad, ugly and funny aspects of our lives and choices are all mixed in together here and contrast beautifully with the wide, empty sky overhead and the natural world.
These works are all based on areas in Sutherland Shire. I’ve tried to be honest and leave in the cars, roads, light poles and general clutter, to show the place as I see it and not just some romantic view of sand and sea or the gum trees in the Royal National Park. This is where we are and what we’ve made."
