Lotterywest Grant for Interpretation Plan for the Roger May Museum

An application for a grant to provide an Interpretation Plan for the Roger May Museum at the Edenvale Heritage Complex has been awarded to The Friends of Edenvale Inc.

The Friends of Edenvale have been awarded a grant of $14,500 towards the cost of an Interpretation Plan for the Roger May Museum.

The interpretation plan will guide the Roger May Museum to create a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.

The Museum has a unique collection of objects representing the history of the agricultural community in the local area. With the changing nature of the communities of Pinjarra and the surrounding area through population growth, the need to present the region’s past through vibrant stories of people and places has become pressing.

It cannot be assumed that visitors to the Museum will have an understanding of agriculture in the region and there is also a need for interpretation which will engage young people with the stories associated with the Museum.

The interpretation will provide a means of assisting community integration through a common appreciation of the Shire's history. It will also lead to increased volunteer direction and satisfaction. Volunteers are an important part of the structure of the Roger May Museum.
