ACT Heritage Library

The ACT Heritage Library collects, manages and provides access to material relevant to the history and development of the ACT. It collects, preserves, provides access to and promotes the documents that record the lives of Canberra and the region.

Collections

- Over 30,000 catalogued items

- 175 manuscript collections of local organisations and individuals

- approx 50,000 photographs, over 8,000 of which are digitised on Images ACT database on Heritage Library web page: http://www.images.act.gov.au/

- 4,000 maps and plans also listed on web page http://www.library.act.gov.au/acthl/actheritagelibrarycatalogue.html

- extensive ephemera collection of around 300 archive boxes and 2,000 posters

- local newspapers in print and microfilm including complete run of Canberra Times and others from 1920s
