The National Sports Museum showcases more than 3500 objects related to the greatest moments in Australia's sporting history.

The Baggy Green Room

More than just a museum, the NSM captures the spirit of Australian sporting life - and relives the moments that have shaped Australia's rich sporting traditions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to reflect on what makes Australia such a great sporting country and to celebrate the determination, effort and sportsmanship that comes with sports' great achievements. Visitors will be inspired and gain an insight into what makes a great athlete.

The NSM includes eight permanent exhibition spaces:

'Faster, Higher, Stronger' traces Australia's role in the Olympic Games including stories and artefacts from past and present Australian Olympians.

'Backyard to Baggy Green' explores the evolution of cricket and its undeniable spirit. Also included is the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Baggy Green Room and, 3D theatrical experience Shane Warne 'Cricket Found Me'.

'Australia's Game' traces the history of Australia's indigenous game, Australian football. Featured exhibitions are the Australian Football Hall of Fame and, 3D theatrical experience James Hird 'Off the Bench'.

The 'People's Ground' explores the evolution of Australia's spiritual home of sport - the MCG.

The 'Spirit of Sport' introduces athletes and general members inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

The breadth of sports played by Australians is further highlighted with exhibitions on sports including basketball, netball, football, cycling, tennis, golf, Paralympic Games, horse racing, boxing, rugby union and rugby league.

'Game On' is a fully interactive gallery allowing the visitor to personally experience the thrill of participation.

The 'MCC Museum' showcases the rich history of one of the world's oldest known sporting clubs and the ground it calls home, the MCG. (not accessible on MCG Event Days).

In addition, 'NSM Cinema Sport ' screens non-stop sporting action including 'Peter Brock - King of the Mountain', 'Nerves of Steel' - abridged version and 'Bustin' down the Door' - abridged version.
