Bendigo's tramway system dates back to 1890, when trams were used as a major source of public transportation. As a result of the public transport tram services ceasing operation, the Vintage "Talking" Tram Tour was developed In 1972 with only four trams and the provision of a two-year trial of the tourist service. 40 years later the Bendigo Tramways now has a fleet of over 42 trams from all over the world which are enjoyed and admired by tram enthusiasts and visitors alike.
