Brookton Museum and Heritage Centre

The Brookton Museum and Heritage Centre is a small museum that is housed in the district’s original Police Station. We are a non-profit organisation operated entirely by volunteers.

We welcome visitors and research enquiries. To avoid disappointment, please make contact prior to your visit, if possible, to ensure that someone is available to assist you.

Brookton is situated on the junction of two highways – two hours from Perth on the Brookton Highway and forty five minutes south of York on the Great Southern Highway.

The collection is focussed on local history with exhibitions that are changed periodically along with extensive archival and photographic records of people, places, businesses, organisations and events.

On permanent display is the wagon that was traded for the land on which our oldest hotel – the Bedford Arms – stands. A display of local geology specimens is of interest to many people and a “memory stirrer” is Grandma’s Wash House.
