State Library of Western Australia

The Battye Library has a vast array of publications including books, newspapers, periodicals, maps, ephemera, as well as original records such as oral history tapes, photographs and artworks, films and video, and non-government records kept in the library's Private Archives collection.

Collections

The State Library of Western Australia identifies, collects, organises, preserves and provides access to Western Australia’s published documentary heritage and original historical records. It provides services based on information about Western Australia to clients all over the world. The State Library also has specific responsibilities for the preservation of, and access to, these collections as part of the nation’s and Western Australia’s heritage.

Located in the heart of the Perth Cultural Centre, the State Library provides information and resources to facilitate the educational and recreational needs of Western Australians, and supports the network of 232 public libraries spread across the vast expanse of the state. The State Library also provides numerous on-line and e-resources, many of which are accessible from home using your public library membership.
