Royal South Australian Society of Arts Inc

The Royal South Australian Society of Arts was founded in 1856, to participate in the major cultural developments of the state. Having provided art training and exhibitions of works of art by overseas and local artists. In over 150 years well known artists have been members, e.g. Hans Heysen, Nora Heysen, John Dowie, Jeffrey Smart, Mervyn Smith, Ruth Tuck to the artists of today, offering a heritage of a wide range of exhibitions and research. The Society today runs a full program of exhibitions, artists talks, demonstrations, outdoor and life drawing groups. A member based organisation with a rich heritage of a library and art collection.

Collections

The RSASA Collection consists of a range of artworks, many by artists of renown, Fellow members and Past Presidents, paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, as well as a library of unique books, collected over time relating to art and art practices.
