Museum of Brisbane

Located on the ground floor of City Hall, King George Square in Brisbane CBD. Ongoing temporary exhibition program encompassing visual arts and social history with occasional exhibitions drawn from the collection. MoB explores ideas and stories that illuminate our past and present and help us to imagine our future. The museum holds a collection of approximately 3,000 items comprises photographs, paintings, works on paper, ceramics, sculpture and miscellaneous objects and ephemera relating to the history of Brisbane.

Collections

The collection consists of Australian painting, ceramics and works on paper by local and national artists, in addition to photographs, furniture and memorabilia accumulated by Brisbane City Council and its predecessors. Artists include Vida Lahey, William Bustard, Daphne Mayo, Lloyd Rees, Margaret Olley, Leonard Brown, Gordon Bennett and Scott Redford.
