Axel Stenross Maritime Museum

In its 25th year of operation, the museum has been established in the buildings and residence of the late Axel Stenross, a boat builder at Port Lincoln since 1940.

The history of Axel and his boats is retained together with other history of Port Licoln, Eyre Peninsula and S.A. Generally, relating to fishing, the grain trading ships, steamships and yacht club. The slipway continues to operate for small boats.


Collection of historic boats and maritime relics with the stories behind them. 2,700 items, including approximately 200 photographs 100 year old Ketch, Ex WW2 Army Tow (Tug) Boat. We are a “hands on” museum with minimal glass and plastic, run by volunteers with community support
